Making goldenrod kisses – salt water taffy

5 09 2010

In York Maine there is a popular place that makes golden rod kisses, that’s right salt water taffy. Stop by any time your in the area and there will be a crowd in the window watching these old machines in operation. Inside the restaurant is always busy and you can buy a box of this delicious treat or visit the shipping table where you can ship a box or two, to friends and family around the world.

Enjoy your taffy!

Hurricane Earl, the aftermath

5 09 2010

Hurricane Earl came and went on September 3, 2010 as a tropical storm by the time it reached the New England area.

This report is on the day after the storm, Sept. 4th 2010. The sun is out, weather is
great for labor day weekend and we dodged a bullet this time as far as storms go.

For us hardy New England people it was the anticipation for what we know what could have been a very different story.

So, always be prepared for the worst and hope for the best as we do. The long holiday
weekend has just begun.

Enjoy it!

Waiting For Danielle The Storm

1 09 2010

On a day trip to Newport RI and reports of Hurricane Danielle the storm on the way up the east coast we saw surfers in the ocean having a great day in the sun and surf. The surf seemed tame from our vantage point. Is Danielle on the way? The next few days will tell. In the mean time enjoy the great weather.
