A Day ON Block Island

We had the opportunity to spend a day on Block Island off the coast of Rhode Island. We left on the high speed ferry from Point Judith. It was only a 13 mile 30 minute trip. We learned the Block Island is approximately half way between Rhode Island and Long Island New York.

It was a fun day were we took a one hour taxi ride to learn about the island being our first time here. Had lunch at The National Hotel overlooking the harbor. After lunch we rented a motor scooter, now that we know our way around the 3 by 7 mile island. This gave us time to take some photographs as we enjoy doing. At the end of the day we had to enjoy diner at The Surf Hotel bar, again looking over the harbor. Got into a conversation with some other folk also enjoying a day trip to the island. Even the waitress conversed with us explaining how her husband and son was working here as well for the summer. They are from Venezuela. Its a lot of work but had some time for fun as well in the America she explained.

All in all we had a great day and got a lot photos we can look back at from time to time.
