We enjoy taking day trip visiting different New England towns and the surrounding area. On this day we took a trip to Newport Rhode Island. A short drive from Boston. We took a stroll along the Cliff Walk as the tide was coming in. This always makes for exciting and interesting photos. You can see some of the mansions along the way and interesting architecture. From there we visited one of the harbors when we noticed a large ship. At first it look like it a moored just off shore however it was actually moving and coming into dock. Come to find out as we spoke with the crew this ship was a training ship that people can sign up for the summer months. It was not the ship they usually use as it was in for restoration so the captain had to rent this one for the season. From her we went down town Newport for dinner over looking the harbor. It was a great night as the sun set over the harbor and the dinner was great. Here are a few photos we took during the day. Please enjoy them.

The Patriot Flag
5 07 2011The Patriot Flag.
The 60-foot Sept. 11 memorial flag flew during Attleboro’s Fourth of July fireworks show.
The flag is dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11. A nonprofit, all-volunteer group has been traveling around the United States since last September with the goal of stopping in each of the 50 states in 50 weeks leading up to the 10-year anniversary of the infamous day.
Material (the flag remnant cut off when the flag was repaired) will also be on the tour with The Patriot Flag. This 4 X 20.5 foot piece of the flag was saved when the flag was repaired. Historic Patriot Flag signed from across America.

Our Flag
25 05 2011The national flag of the United States of America (the “American flag”) consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the “union”) bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternating with rows of five stars. The fifty stars on the flag represent the 50 states and the 13 stripes represent the original thirteen colonies and became the first states in the Union. Nicknames for the flag include the “Stars and Stripes”, “Old Glory,” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” (also the name of the national anthem).

Eagle Scout Court Of Honor
27 02 2011On Feb. 20, 2011 I was invited to witness the advancement of six young men, six Boy Scouts to rank of Eagle Scout. I was a leader for 16 years as one of the adult leaders that worked with these scouts on their trail to Eagle. It is a prestigious award as only 2% of of scouts ever reach this level. It take’s hard work and a strong commitment. Congratulation to all six new Eagle Scouts.
